SUMMARY:Diversity Sensitive Support for Vocational Orientation of Young Women
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nWomen are still underrepresented in science and technology studies. Although choosing a career is considered to be a highly individual decision based on one’s own skills and competencies\, it is actually very influenced by cultural context: female and working-class students seem to think more often than others that science is not for them. \nIn this online workshop\, Prof. Dr. Silvija Markic will present in what ways vocational orientation measures could be designed to appeal to groups that are currently underrepresented in science. \nTogether we will learn about different strategies which are offered but also wished by the young women when it comes to their career aspiration. The workshop will be based on an online tool which helps young women to reflect on their own self-concept and abilities for career in natural sciences. \nThe workshop is for free and will be held online via Zoom.
