SUMMARY:GEM Girls Club in Utrecht\, Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:GEM Girlsclub WIN \n(‘Wiskunde\, Informatica\, Natuurkunde’ -> Mathematics\, Computer Science\, Physics) \n  \nUtrecht University has shifted from a regular summer school programme for Dutch girls to a yearlong programme of Girlsclub-days\, due to the Corona Pandemic. The programme is set for 24 girls on each day between 14 and 15 years old and participants will get to know young female scientists who are already established in the field and young women just entering the fields of computer science\, mathematics\, and physics. SUMMARY:PBE 2021 - Project-based education and other activating strategies in science education
DESCRIPTION:Pre-service training is crucial to promote innovative educational approaches. Research has shown that\, activating strategies – such as project-based and inquiry-based teaching and learning – need to be trained in pre-service teacher training\, as teachers who have not experienced and practiced it\, will unlikely apply such strategies in their future practice. \nAt the same time\, it seems that applying these strategies requires gradual steps. Students need to develop a growing autonomy of their own learning step by step. From the teachers’ competences point of view it is important to choose appropriate amount of scaffolding and its successive decreasing. \nPBE conference has actively supported future and practicing STEM teachers for a decade\, come and join our journey! \nPBE 2021 is organised by and at the Department of Chemistry and Chemistry Education\, Faculty of Education\, Charles University\, Czech Republic\, with support of other STEM teacher training experts. \nThe STEMkey project will contribute to the conference with its latest insight into competence-based and interdisciplinary STEM education. \n  \nShare this post

DESCRIPTION:The project GEM Consortium would like to kindly invite all interested parties to participate in the GEM Network Kick-Off meeting\, taking place: November 11\, 2 – 5:30 p.m. (UTC/GMT+1) virtually: \nhttps://zoom.us/j/98338946823?pwd=QmJFT2FTU0JORTcwOWhUbWNhREJUUT09 \nAs a member of the Europe-wide network you will on the one hand be sensitised to gender-equitable STEM education\, receive information on relevant gender topics (deficits in STEM/digital education\, drop-out rates of girls\, roles and barriers of girls\, serious upcoming lack of digital skills\, loss of innovation capacity for Europe etc.). On the other hand\, you will help shaping the network with your contributions and become active yourself: share your experiences\, best practices and knowledge\, information on equal opportunities for girls in STEM/ICT\, implement a variety of awareness-raising activities in society. \nOn November 11 we would like to inform you about the GEM project and the role of the GEM Network\, as well as offer you to take a closer look on best practices in creating good learning environments at the example of Slovakia. You will have a chance to discuss interesting questions arising from the speaker’s presentations. Together with stakeholders from around Europe you will have a chance to think about other actions and activities that can inspire and support girls on their journey towards STEM and ICT professions. \nPlease find a detailed agenda and information on meeting speakers: \nSharing best practices and personal stories\n2 – 2:30 p.m. Mrs. Dita Kreuz (project GEM manager) and Mrs. Sona Ceretkova: Welcome and GEM project introduction\, National GEM Team background: example Slovakia \n2:30 – 3 p.m. Mrs. Ľubica Rozborova\, RISOTO (Respectful Inclusion\, Social Opportunity\, Tolerance; NGO)\, Bratislava \nMrs. Rozborova is CEO of RISOTO\, which conducts audits\, consults\, designs processes\, and trains employees and management to help the company get on the path to building a truly inclusive organization. The RISOTO also design and manage externally funded projects delivering social value. The primary areas of expertise include Human Rights\, Gender Equality\, Arts and Culture\, Green Innovations\, Education\, and Social Entrepreneurship. \nDiscussion in groups on gender equality. \n3:15 – 4:15 p.m. Mrs. Zuzana Staňáková\, Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information (CVTI SR)\, Bratislava \nMrs. Staňáková works in the CVTI SR in the department of international projects and currently also in the position of a contact person for gender equality. CVTI SR is currently working on creating a system of support for research institutions and universities with the integration of Gender Equality into research and innovation.  \nand prof. Dr. Ing. Jana Žiarovská\, PhD.\, Slovak Agricultural University (SPU) in Nitra. \nProfessor Žiarovská will share her personal story as successful woman in science and research in genetics and molecular biology and her carrier as the university professor. \nDiscussion in groups on questions dealing with the institutional strategies towards to gender equality and female scientists support. \n4:30 – 5:00 p.m. Mrs. Petra Kotuliaková\, NGO “Aj Ty v IT” (You in IT)\, Bratislava \nMrs. Kotuliaková is CEO of Aj Ty v IT\, the civic association “Aj Ty v IT” was established in 2012. At a time when the number of girls at IT faculties of universities fluctuated for a long time between 3% – 5% of the total number of students of these university programs in Slovakia. SUMMARY:Online International Forum on Teacher Professional Development and Socio-Scientific Issues
DESCRIPTION:This stand-alone\, international event brings together experts in the area of socio-scientific issues and teacher education to discuss recent trends\, synergies and collaboration as well as exploitation capacity. \nThe specific objective of this multiplier event is to provide a venue for ITE teachers and curriculum developers in Higher Education\, and other policy makers to discuss and share good practices and ideas on further improving teacher education related to socio-scientific issues.
