SUMMARY:Educating the Educators: STEM & Open Schooling for Sustainability Education
DESCRIPTION:Educating the Educators (ETE) is an international conference series on professional development in STEM (science\, technology\, engineering and mathematics) education that brings together teacher educators\, policy makers\, teachers and various other stakeholders related to STEM education. \nETE IV will focus on implementing and scaling up innovative teaching approaches in STEM education and in particular on open schooling initiatives with respect to environmental issues (such as waste reduction\, energy reduction/transition\, increasing electricity needs for clouds and bitcoins\, etc.). The aim is to discuss different approaches with a rich variety of participants on ways of working for teachers and PD course leaders\, the roles of teaching materials\, and on structures needed for innovations in STEM education. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nETE IV features both traditional and innovative formats to benefit of gathering a circle of participants from research\, practice and policy. Vivid exchange and collaborative work will be ensured by spaces for co-creation and for sharing ideas and results. Three prominent keynote speakers will provide rich introductions on the main theme of the conference: \n\nArjen Wals (Professor Transformative Learning for Socio-ecological Sustainability/Unesco Chair at Wageningen University & Research\, Netherlands)\nMarta Romero Ariza (MOST-project & University of Jaén\, Spain)\nKatja Maaß (MOST-project & University of Education Freiburg\, Germany) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \nRegistration is now open! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare this post

SUMMARY:Policy Seminar on Opening Up School Education
DESCRIPTION:In order to discuss what teachers need to integrate participatory projects such as Open Schooling activities into the classroom on a regular basis\, the MOST project is organising a policy seminar on the  topic Opening up school education: Ways to support schools on their path to institutional change. The main aims of this policy seminar are \n\nIlluminate the importance of opening up school education and present examples of best practices.\nDiscuss and reflect how this promising approach can be integrated in the day-to-day teaching.\nDiscuss what schools and their teachers need to start institutional change and transform into an open school.\n\n\nIntroduction speeches will be held by Agueda Gras-Velazquez from the European Schooling Network (EUN) and Tobias Feitkenhauer from the Initiative “Schule im Aufbruch (school on the move)\,” Germany. We look forward to a lively exchange in the subsequent world café with invited representatives from policy and research from across Europe as well as with members of the European Open Schooling network. \n\n\n\n\nShare this post
