SUMMARY:GEM Summer School in Jaén
DESCRIPTION:Empowering girls to unveil their digital\, entrepreneurial and STEM potential \n  \n16 female scientists will mentor 60 girls from Jaén in their own research projects around exciting topics like artificial intelligence for a better world\, using social media data for making good decisions\, the secret life of waste and new materials\, microorganisms zoos and much more. The community of girls and female mentors will experience and discuss the social relevance of the research conducted by close role models and will share a wide range of activities\, including outdoors visits to interesting natural places\, speeches by inspiring female entrepreneurs and playful interactive activities. SUMMARY:Nicosia Summer School for Girls
DESCRIPTION:Empowering Girls to Understand their Role in STEM \n  \nThe summer school for girls (age 12-14) from schools across Cyprus will take place June 22-25\, 2021 in Nicosia. \nGirls will be empowered to understand the role of STEM\, and especially the entrepreneurial potential of the field. Female scientists\, science communicators and educators have worked together to develop interactive activities around the topic of “Colours”. The girls will have the opportunity to learn about colours and their importance from the perspective of science\, mathematics\, technology\, engineering and the arts and will collaborate on producing final products and present them. They also get to work with female scientists\, do a field trip to an environmental centre and prepare their own digital advertisements to promote their products. \n

SUMMARY:GEM Summer School in Freiburg
DESCRIPTION:The summer school in Freiburg will take place from July 19th to July 22nd as a hybrid summer school – certain activities will be conducted during the morning in virtual spaces with online meetings and in presence at the University of Education in Freiburg during the afternoon. Thereby the participants will be split into groups of three to five with one assigned female mentor. The camp offers activities centered around STEM and ICT subjects and aim to increase the interest of the participating girls aged 12 -19. The programme will include activities with links to real life problems in which the girls can apply their STEM knowledge and acquire new concepts in a hands-on and collaborative environment. Certain activities are centered around designing escape rooms\, as well as 3D-printing. \n  \nContact Person: Oliver Straser
