Starting with a car manufacturer’s advertisement, they will analyze the information on their website and create a report based on calculations and scientific facts. Students will perform basic calculations, explore photosynthesis, and analyze graphs.

This lesson unit contains teacher notes for the lesson and ready to use worksheets for students.

About COMPASS
Compass (Common Problem Solving Strategies as Links between Mathematics and Science) was an EU funded Lifelong learning programme that ran from 2009-2011. It focused on the development of innovative and inquiry-based learning materials combining STEM disciplines in an interdisciplinary way.

The project was coordinated by the University of Education Freiburg, who worked with 6 partners across Europe as well as mathematics and science teachers to ensure the adaptability of the tasks in different nations.

A toal of 10 lesson units have been developed for teachers to use in their classrooms. It includes teacher notes and lesson worksheets for their students. Some topics included additional activites that used technology in the  form of applets, which current browsers do not support anymore, so they cannot be run.
