by Rahel Brugger
On July 15, 2025, Rahel Brugger from the ICSE Freiburg team presented the open schooling project “Designing Jigsaw Lamps,” which was carried out as part of the ICSE Science Factory, at the Bridges Conference, the largest international conference on mathematics and the arts.

The topic was very well received by the audience, who asked questions about the mathematical background of the lamp design, the didactic approach, the use of digital tools and the evaluation of the project. After the presentation, some participants expressed their desire to carry out a similar project themselves or with school or university students in the future.

The conference offered a variety of lectures, workshops, and events, ranging from an exhibition of mathematical art and a math fashion show to a Family Day, where the general public could, for example, explore different geometries using virtual reality.
