Mathematics & Inclusion – a Professional Development Program on Inclusive Maths Classes in Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany)
Bertram, Jennifer, Ruhr University Bochum, Bochum, Germany
Bicker, Ursula, Pedagogical Institute of Rhineland-Palatinate, Bad Kreuznach, Germany
About 25 teachers from eight different schools take part in the professional development program “Mathematics & Inclusion” in Rhineland-Palatinate for about two years. These teachers are going to be “experts in practice” and serve as multipliers within their own schools, aiming at the further development of inclusive maths classes. Therefore, the teachers visit five modules, in between which they can put the newly gained ideas into practice. Furthermore, they work closely together with facilitators for maths and for inclusion during the project. In our practice-based presentation we like to explain the specific structure of this project and illustrate our idea of scaling-up.
