Students investigated the process of generating electrical energy with solar energy systems at schools and homes. They focused on calculating the cost of generating solar energy systems in schools and homes. During this process, they reflected on the importance of energy saving, the energy production methods widely used in Turkey, and installing solar panels in a building by meeting people who work in the energy field and installing energy panels. The students recorded their school and home’s electric bills and based on that they calculated how many solar panels were needed for their schools or homes to generate needed energy. They calculated the cost of the number of solar panels, compared the cost of the electricity consumption, and calculated how long it would take to cover the costs and move to an advantageous position.
