Professional Development (PD) in STEM teaching emphasizes the importance of the practice of science as an essential factor to improve the quality of teaching science at school. Studies suggest that this shift in emphasis has not yet been sufficiently reflected in teaching. The PROFI project aims to implement integrating and systematizing PD. Therefore, the need for PD is assessed through individual interviews with all teachers of a school (in primary schools) and with all STEM teachers (in secondary schools) and evaluated school-specifically. The study investigates the individual, teaching and school needs for the PD of teachers and the consensus-oriented coordination of their further education and PD. The results of the guide-supported interviews of a primary and a secondary school will be presented.
