PBE 2021 – Project-based education and other activating strategies in science education

Pre-service training is crucial to promote innovative educational approaches. Research has shown that, activating strategies – such as project-based and inquiry-based teaching and learning – need to be trained in pre-service teacher training, as teachers who have not experienced and practiced it, will unlikely apply such strategies in their future practice.

At the same time, it seems that applying these strategies requires gradual steps. Students need to develop a growing autonomy of their own learning step by step. From the teachers’ competences point of view it is important to choose appropriate amount of scaffolding and its successive decreasing.

PBE conference has actively supported future and practicing STEM teachers for a decade, come and join our journey!

PBE 2021 is organised by and at the Department of Chemistry and Chemistry Education, Faculty of Education, Charles University, Czech Republic, with support of other STEM teacher training experts.

The STEMkey project will contribute to the conference with its latest insight into competence-based and interdisciplinary STEM education.
