This module is situated at the intersection of out-of-school pedagogy, intercultural pedagogy, and science education. Preservice science teachers will acquire subject and culturally relevant pedagogical content knowledge and skills on education for sustainable development. They will develop competency in teaching topics related to the diversity of nature in an intercultural context, ensuring that their teaching practices are both inclusive and impactful in promoting sustainable development.

About IncluSMe
This module is based on the work within the Erasmus+ project ‘Intercultural learning in mathematics and science initial teacher education’ (IncluSMe). Core to IncluSMe, which ran from 2016-2019, was the design and implementation of open access teaching modules. The project brought together 11 teams of higher education institutions for initial teacher education from across Europe and was lead and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Katja Maaß, International Centre for STEM education, University of Education Freiburg.
A total of 13 modules were developed to be used in higher education settings. Ready to use lecture presentations and accompanying notes for lecturers as well as worksheets for trainee teachers are part of every module.
