The module aims to help prospective teachers develop competences for teaching in multicultural classrooms. In particular, it will support them to: identify issues related to teaching and learning in multilingual and multicultural contexts; interpret these incidents on the basis of research findings; design relevant teaching interventions; and develop a reflective view on how teaching can affect learning outcomes in diverse classrooms.
This module contains lecture notes, a lecture presentation, and worksheets.

About IncluSMe
This module is based on the work within the Erasmus+ project ‘Intercultural learning in mathematics and science initial teacher education’ (IncluSMe). Core to IncluSMe, which ran from 2016-2019, was the design and implementation of open access teaching modules. The project brought together 11 teams of higher education institutions for initial teacher education from across Europe and was lead and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Katja Maaß, International Centre for STEM education, University of Education Freiburg.
A total of 13 modules were developed to be used in higher education settings. Ready to use lecture presentations and accompanying notes for lecturers as well as worksheets for trainee teachers are part of every module.
