On January 18, 2019 ICSE turned one year old

ICSE is celebrating its first birthday! On 18th January 2019 it has been one year since our formal inauguration. Since its founding ICSE and the ICSE consortium are working on achieving important results: We want to promote innovative STEM education in order to raise students’ interest in STEM subjects and show them the relevance of STEM – subjects for their lives, society and careers.

Every single day of the last year was spent determining new aims for ICSE and securing a sustainable growth of the centre. ICSE is already coordinating three big European Union funded projects (IncluSMe, MaSDiV and STEM PD Net) which serve ICSE’s purposes. Additionally, shortly before the one year anniversary, the Consortium members from 14 different countries came together to look back and discuss the achievements as well as to determine and prepare the upcoming tasks. Another great development is that ICSE has not only attracted a lot of interest within Europe, but it has also gotten regular inquiries and offers for cooperation from around the world.

For the next year we are looking forward to more research-related discussions and joint activities in STEM education. Moreover, we hope to excite more teachers in our education courses as well as encourage more pupils to engage in STEM. As for ourselves, we wish to keep growing and to keep cooperating with old and new partners from STEM research, educational institutions, teachers, policy makers and industry. To the future of ICSE!
