New Project: The ICSE Academy

A lighthouse for STEM teacher education and training across Europe

The ICSE Academy is a collaboration of 13 Higher Education Institutions, 13 policy-making organisations and 65 schools in 13 European countries to provide innovations for professional learning of pre- and in-service STEM teachers. All offered activities feature a unique profile: they promote the European dimension, and increase mobility and collaboration in STEM teacher education and training.

The Academy offers a wide range of activity formats, e.g. focus topic exchanges (1h4), reflective job-shadowing for teacher educators and teachers, clustered workshop series, and summer schools which bring together STEM teacher students, teacher educators and teachers. Jointly organized by all project countries and taking place accross Europe, each format provides enriching European perspectives on STEM education, supported by a distinct spotlight on learning about, from and for each other.

The basis of all this is a strong needs and feasibility alignment, made possible by the huge amount of partners and their connected networks. By that the ICSE Academy can provide innovations in STEM teacher education and training which close the gaps between needs and available professional learning opportunities. To further tap the full potential of innovation in education, the ICSE Academy regularly is supported by and informs policy on effective, accessible, and transferable professional learning, establishing a forward-looking and future-proof service for Europe’s STEM education landscape.
